Eatherton Road Bridge Replacement Project is Underway
The City of Wildwood’s contractor, Pace Construction, has begun work to replace the Eatherton Road Bridge over Bonhomme Creek. The project, which is estimated to cost about $940,000 to construct, will replace the existing sub-standard bridge between State Route 109 and Wild Horse Creek Road (State Route CC), with a new bridge structure consisting of two 11’ driving lanes with 4’ shoulders.
Eatherton Road has been CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC at the bridge location (about 750’ north of Orville Road) as of June 1, 2020 and is expected to remain closed through the duration of bridge construction. Eatherton Road will remain open during construction for local traffic to access Orrville Road from State Route 109, or to access Eatherton Valley Road or Bonhomme Creek Road from Wild Horse Creek Road. Detour signs and other advance warning signs will be in place during construction to detour motorists around the construction area. Local police, fire, postal, solid-waste and school transportation providers have been notified of this project.
The new bridge is expected to be open to traffic by the end of August and will be the City’s 29th bridge replacement since 2000. The City obtained a federal grant to help fund the project. The grant will reimburse the City for 80% of our costs to construct the project.
