Attention +++ All Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, and Amateur Radio Operators

The City of Wildwood Board of Public Safety is collecting a voluntary list of doctors, nurses, paramedics and amateur radio operators that reside within the City.  The list, which is being developed for potential use by the Wildwood Precinct Police, would allow the Police to contact local doctors, nurses, paramedics and amateur radio operators for assistance in the event of a public emergency or natural disaster.

Qualified individuals who would like to be considered for this voluntary list should email their contact information with credentials to lynne@cityofwildwood.com.  Please note “Attention – Emergency Response List” in the title bar of the e-mail transmission.  For more information please contact Rick Brown at 636-458-0440 or rick@cityofwildwood.com.

Babysitting 101 - Presented by St. Louis Children’s Hospital – Tuesday, December 29, 2015 - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Considering hiring a new babysitter? Enroll him or her in this class to encourage the best care for your child. This class is a great introduction to the basics of babysitting. A workbook is provided. Topics include:

  • The business of babysitting
  • Child development
  • Safety and first aid
  • Fun and games

With the holiday season upon us, sometimes the events after Christmas are put on the back burner! The Baby Sitting 101 classes are very popular, but they do need a minimum number of registered participants! If that minimum number of participants is not reached the class will have to be cancelled, which is not fair to those individuals who have registered well in advance of the December 29, 2016 class. Please try and get registered before December 26, 2015! An accurate number of participants must be known ahead of time for lunch and refreshments!! It is a very worth-while class, so please register before the date gets lost in the holiday celebrations!!

Thank you very much!

For details and to register, please call 314-454-KIDS.

Recycling Grant Provides Optional Larger Recycling Carts

If you find the 65 gallon cart to be too small for your weekly recyclables, please call Meridian Waste Services, at (314) 291-3131, and request one of the larger recycling carts.  Meridian will replace your 65 gallon recycling cart, with a new 95 gallon recycle cart, AT NO CHARGE (the old carts cannot be utilized for anything, but recycling, and will be redistributed to those needing the smaller carts).  Since quantities are limited, the larger carts will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Holiday Light Recycling

The City of Wildwood is pleased to once again partner with Meridian Waste Services’ holiday light recycling program.  No longer wanted strands of holiday lights may be placed in the dumpster supplied for this specific purpose at the end of Wildwood Avenue, which is located just to the east of the Wildwood Municipal Building.  Please do not place light strands in your regular trash, as they become tangled in the equipment at the landfills.  Please do not place them in the curbside recycling containers, since they will not be accepted in the weekly pickup.  Please help keep the City of Wildwood the eco-friendly city we are known to be by placing those unwanted light strands in the appropriate dumpster on Wildwood Avenue.

American Flag Disposal

The City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal.  Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist.  All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal.  US Flags should never be placed in the trash.

Holiday Decorating Safety Tips from Ameren Missouri

As the holiday season approaches, Ameren Missouri is urging customers to make safety a factor in holiday decorating. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, over 12,000 people are treated at hospital emergency rooms for injuries, such as falls, cuts, and shocks, related to holiday lights.  And Christmas trees are involved in nearly 300 fires annually, resulting in more than $10 million in property loss and damage. Click the link below to view safety tips to keep in mind for holiday decorating.     http://www.ameren.com/community-members/safety/decorating

MSD Caulks Creek Trunk Sewer - Phase 1

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) is beginning a major construction project to build a new sanitary sewer which will benefit many Wildwood residents.  The Caulks Creek Trunk Sewer, Phase I project will replace existing undersized trunk sewers, alleviate building backups and eliminate existing overcharged sanitary sewers.  The project consists of 3.1 miles (16,225 feet) of 8-inch to 36-inch sanitary relief sewers starting near the intersection of Church Road and Kehrs Mill Road.  The project extends to the south, generally following the alignment of Caulks Creek, to its ending point in Wildwood’s Anniversary Park (north side of Clayton Road near the intersection of Clayton Road and Strecker Road).  The project includes two separate side collection systems which extend into the Quaethem Farms Estates Subdivision to provide improved service to the homes in that subdivision.

Construction is scheduled to begin in February of 2016 with completion anticipated by early in summer of 2018.
