Benedetto's on Main - New Italian Restaurant
Opening in Wildwood Town Center

A new Italian restaurant will open on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Wildwood Town Center. Benedetto's on Main is located at the corner of Eastgate Avenue and Main Street, just to the west of Taylor Road. Please stop by and welcome this new local business. MELROSE ROAD UPDATE (02-19-2016)

Work to fill the large void under Melrose Road (between Allenton Road and State Route 109), caused by an adjacent sinkhole, will be completed by late afternoon today and the road will be re-opened. The repaired section of Melrose Road will remain a gravel surface over the next few weeks to allow monitoring of any settlement that may occur. If no significant settlement occurs, asphalt will be placed mid-March, weather permitting.


Household Hazardous Materials

Presentation by Brian Zaitz, Captain-Training Officer with the Metro West Fire Protection District. The lecture will explore the most common household chemicals and discuss their proper usage and how improper usage and mixing of these "benign" chemicals can lead to potentially deadly results. The lecture will discuss how to properly dispose of unused and old chemicals and how to safely clean-up a household chemical spill. The lecture will review basic first aid procedures for contact with household chemicals and discuss the use of Poison Control for these incidents.

18th Annual Taste of West County
@ Lafayette High School

18th Annual Taste of West County will be held Monday, February 22nd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Lafayette High School, 17050 Clayton Road, Wildwood. This event features culinary samples from more than 30 different area restaurants. Featuring a live auction from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., a silent auction, and a raffle for a free deep freeze full of meat from C&C Butcher. Tickets are $12.00 each, $5.00 for children - 5 & younger, $45.00 for family of 4. Proceeds to benefit the Class of 2017 graduation activities.  Ticket sales at the door are not guaranteed. Cabin Fever Hike - 2016 - Along the Meramec River

The Annual Wildwood Cabin Fever Hike is scheduled for February 27, 2016 and open for registration!! The hike is filled, but a waiting list has been opened! This hike is really a popular event! It’s a great time to get outside and explore the gorgeous trails! Winter time offers great views, not available during the summer months, when the trees are fully leafed! The City will identify several hikes when you arrive for check-in, or you can just meander anywhere you please, either way, you will be rewarded with a beautiful morning of nature! The event is free, BUT YOU MUST REGISTER! The morning begins any time between 8:15 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Check-in takes place at the Al Foster Memorial Trailhead (225 Grand Avenue). There will be warm drinks and snacks available, until 11:00 a.m. and, of course, plenty of camaraderie and conversation! Once again, there is limited space remaining, so register now! Home Alone Safety Class @ Wildwood City Hall

This very popular class is being offered in March and preregistration is required! This parent/child class, led by a St. Louis Children’s Hospital facilitator, will help parents and children determine the child’s physical, mental, social and emotional readiness to stay home by themselves. This class will also help prepare them for this experience.

Baby Sitting 101 Class @ Wildwood City Hall

This very popular class requires preregistration! Baby Sitting 101 is taught by an instructor from St. Louis Children’s Hospital and a fantastic introduction to the basics of babysitting. Lunch and a 28-page workbook are provided. Topics include: the business of babysitting; child development; safety and first aid; and fun and games.The details of the class are:

2016 Spring Balloon Glow

The 2016 Spring Balloon Glow is scheduled for Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Wildwood Town Center Plaza. Start your weekend off on Friday evening between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. with music, food, booths organized by the Wildwood Business Association (WBA), and, of course, the glowing hot air balloons!! Get your picture with a bunny, play in the craft tent, or just enjoy the balloons! Whatever you do, it’s a fast and fun two (2) hours! So put it on your calendar! More information will follow over the next few weeks!

City of Wildwood's 2016 Wildwood Spring Egg Hunt  

It’s back!! The Spring Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Fairway Elementary School (480 Old Fairway Drive, Wildwood, Missouri. 63040), between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. BE THERE READY TO HUNT EGGS AT 10:00 A.M.! LETS REPEAT THAT ….. BE THERE, IN PLACE, READY TO HUNT EGGS AT 10:00 A.M. SHARP!! If you arrive two (2) minutes late, the 14,000 eggs will be history!!! Of course, even if you are late (but, please don’t be, your egg hunter will be disappointed), there will be bounce houses, a giant bunny, balloon artists, popcorn, hot dogs, AND BABALOO!!! Like always, it will be a fabulous morning! So, place the Egg Hunt on your calendar, arrive early (before 10:00 a.m.), and be prepared to enjoy two (2) hours of extreme fun!! Questions? Wildwood-Centaur Bicycle Time Trial 

The Wildwood Centaur Bicycle Time Trial is scheduled for Saturday morning, March 19, 2016. This eleven (11) mile time trial race starts and finishes on Centaur Road, at North Eatherton Road, and will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. This time trial event is part of a weekend Tour of St. Louis Event, which consists of three (3) races occurring on Saturday and Sunday. The Wildwood Centaur Time Trial kicks off the weekend event, with a flat, winding, and fast out-and-back course along Centaur and Wild Horse Creek Road. The event is limited to a maximum of 180 riders! Participants will be sent out in one minute intervals and, while competitive, is a lot of fun! Interested bicyclists can preregister on Friday, March 18, 2016, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., at Big Shark Bicycle Company LOOP, 6133 Delmar Boulevard. St. Louis, Missouri 63112; or on race morning at The Crossing Church, 114 North Eatherton Road, Chesterfield, Missouri 63005. Questions call Big Shark Bicycle Company at 314-862-1188.


Wildwood Arbor Day Tree Hugger Run 

A friendly reminder!! The 2nd Annual Wildwood Arbor Day Tree Hugger Run is scheduled for Friday evening, April 29, 2016!! This run is a really great 5K and a fabulous and energetic way to begin the weekend and an energetic way to  start a Friday evening!!! Full steam ahead with your New Year’s resolution!! Register now on the Big River Running's website at https://register.chronotrack.com/r/17941 or pick up a registration form from Wildwood City Hall! The run starts and finishes at LaSalle Springs Middle School and begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. Participants will run on asphalt trails, standard roadways, and chat trails! Runners will travel through a  tunnel, cross a 194-foot bridge, and run along the beautiful Meramec River! You will want to finish fast because there will be plenty of pizza, refreshments, and music waiting for you at the finish line! Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and three (3) deep in each age group. Special prizes this year for the overall finishers … gift cards to a local plant nursery!!! After all, this is an Arbor Day Run!!! The Wildwood Arbor Day Tree Hugger Run is a wonderful family event! The Shoeman Water Project Shoe Drive Continues 

at Wildwood City Hall

Thanks to everyone who has donated shoes, boots, and sandals to the Shoeman Water Project.  The donation boxes are located at City Hall, 16860 Main Street, in the 1st Floor Foyer.  We appreciate everyone’s support of this worthwhile organization.  To learn more about the Shoeman Water Project, visit www.shoemanwater.org/.

 Larger Recycling Carts Are Available to Residents

If you find the 65 gallon cart to be too small for your weekly recyclables, please call Meridian Waste Services, at (314) 291-3131, and request one of the larger recycling carts.  Meridian will replace your 65 gallon recycling cart, with a new 95 gallon recycle cart AT NO CHARGE (the old carts cannot be utilized for anything, but recycling, and will be redistributed to those needing the smaller carts).

American Flag Disposal

The City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal.  Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist.  All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal.  US Flags should never be placed in the trash.
