The Garden Society of Wildwood - Come and Join the Fun

The Garden Society of Wildwood (GSW) is comprised of members from the West County Area interested in sharing and increasing their knowledge of gardening, both flowering and vegetable. Members typically meet in the morning on the second Monday of the month. Meetings can be comprised of outside presenters, site visits, or member speakers, some of whom have reached Master Gardener status.

The objectives of the GSW are three fold: (1.) to protect, beautify and learn about the environment, (2.) to enjoy the friendship of fellow gardeners, and (3.) to collectively provide charitable support to local non-profit organization(s) involved in gardening. New members and guests are always welcome.

If you would like more information, or would like to see our list of meeting activities for 2017, please visit our Facebook Page "The Garden Society of Wildwood" or contact Fran Komar at fkomar@wildblue.net.

Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District
Informational Meeting is Planned on April 11, 2017

With last year’s approval of Proposition S, and the implementation of a new funding structure for stormwater services, MSD has funding for a limited four-year stormwater capital program of $67 million, which will begin in its Fiscal Year 2017 (July 1, 2017). However, this amount of funding barely addresses the overall need for stormwater projects throughout MSD’s service area. Therefore, MSD is holding an informational meeting on April 11, 2017 in Ballwin, to gather public feedback on the need to fund additional stormwater improvement projects.  Specifically, MSD has identified approximately $500 million in erosion and flooding issues throughout its service area. If the public believes covering these issues under MSD’s duties as a stormwater utility is an appropriate expansion of services, MSD officials are also seeking input on an appropriate funding system. Information gathered from the public at this meeting, and others in St. Louis County, will be used to develop a rate proposal for stormwater funding that will be presented to MSD’s Rate Commission in 2018. If the Rate Commission approves this expansion of services and the corresponding funding, a ballot initiative would be presented to area voters in 2019.

Meeting Details: Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., The Pointe at Ballwin Commons, #1 Ballwin Commons Circle, Ballwin, Missouri 63021. Link to further information: http://www.stlmsd.com/our-organization/organization-overview/next-steps-stormwater-services.
