July Meeting of Board of Public Safety Cancelled

The July 9, 2015 meeting of the Board of Public Safety Meeting has been cancelled. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015. To learn more about all of the City's boards and commissions, please visit the City's website. Volunteers are always needed and a form is available on the website to submit your name for consideration.

2015 Asphalt Overlay Project Starts Monday, July 6, 2015

The project will start at Ridge Road, at the Ellisville/Wildwood City Limits, and continue the entire length of Ridge Road, including the St. Paul Road Hill, at the Wildwood City Limit. The project will start with the milling operation of the existing pavement at side streets and driveways on Monday morning, July 6, 2015, and then immediately be followed by placing hot asphalt over the existing road one lane at a time. The process will take three days to complete and there will be flagmen present to assist traffic on all work days. There will be no road closures; however, there will be some periodic delays. Following the completion of Ridge Road, the City will be paving Centaur Road, from North Eatherton Road to Wild Horse Creek Road. Weather permitting Centaur Road will start with the milling pavement operation on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, then paving on Thursday, July 9, 2015, Friday, July 10, 2015, and completing the project on Monday, July 13, 2015.


No Delay in Trash Schedule this Week     

With the Fourth of July on Saturday this year, there will be no change to the regular schedule for pick-up of trash, yard waste, and recyclables.


Wildwood Calendar Contest is UNDERWAY!!!

Just a reminder to all of the photography enthusiasts living in Wildwood!! The search for photographs reflecting the City of Wildwood, to be used in the 2016 version of the City of Wildwood Calendar began on July 1, 2015. Photograph entries will be accepted between now and July 24, 2015 at cityofwildwood.com. Participants may submit up to three (3) photographs each and all submissions MUST BE IN DIGITAL FORM. Complete information/rules to participate in this year’s calendar contest can be found at cityofwildwood.com.

Seventy-Six Trombones Led the Big Parade!  

This year’s Founders’ Day Parade might not have 76 trombones, but it will have the Lafayette High School Marching Band and many other great participants. Want to be a part of this event? Spaces remain in the parade line-up, so you can still enter. Here are some ideas for parade entries…

  • Clubs and organizations – let people know about you!

  • Neighborhoods – create a friendly rivalry between friends in other neighborhoods - bragging rights and prizes are on the line!

  • Sports teams

  • Individuals/families – do some type of anniversary theme, since this year is the City’s 20th Anniversary

Part-Time Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

The City of Wildwood is seeking candidates for a part-time position (average 25 hrs/wk), which will primarily assist with telephone and front office duties. Responsibilities include clerical work, data entry, telephone and walk-in inquiries, filing, mailings, and working closely with the public. Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, with 3 years of applicable experience in a general office setting, as well as outstanding telephone skills and must be open to performing a variety of duties. Computer literate in Microsoft Office, with knowledge of other business machines. Beginning Salary range $12.00 - $14.00 an hour, depending on qualifications.

The City of Wildwood, Missouri is seeking Statements of Qualifications and Fee Proposals for City Attorney and related legal counsel services.
 
Descriptions of the community and its municipal organization can be viewed here. Details of the duties of the City Attorney and a profile of the ideal applicant firm are also enclosed for your information.
 
Interested law firms are invited to submit a professional Statement of Qualifications, including a biography of the proposed named individual and related information describing the qualifications and experience of both the individual attorney and associated law firm.
 
By separate envelope marked “Fee Proposal”, please include a proposed fee structure, including a monthly retainer and hourly costs for legal work outside of the retainer parameters.

Need Service Hours or Do You Like to Volunteer?

The Celebrate Wildwood 20th Anniversary Event is less than two months away and volunteers are needed to help with the Art Festival, Car Show, and other venues. Lemonade Stand for Fund Raiser - Cystic Fibrosis

On July 4, 2015, a lemonade stand, with baked goods and other goodies, will be out in front of 2590 Grover Ridge Drive, in the Old Grover Estates Subdivision (63040), to raise money to help a young man, who has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. The sale will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., so stop on by and have a cool drink, a tasty treat, and help raise funds for a cure. For more information, please visit www.matteosmob.com. 2015 Farmers Market in Wildwood Every Saturday - Even On July 4th!

The City’s 2015 Farmers Market Season, at the Town Center Plaza (221 Plaza Drive), is officially underway. The market is open every Saturday, now through the Fall. The market begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues through 12:30 p.m. Returning managers of the market, Rene’ and George Sackett, continue to promote a “producers’ only” type of facility, with an emphasis on locally-grown, produced, or made products being offered at it. The intent of this type of market is to create an atmosphere that caters to the desires and needs of its customers here in Wildwood, with the best varieties available, and products you can trust and feel good about eating or using in your home.
 
So, remember, to visit the Wildwood Farmers Market, every Saturday, now through the Fall, with plenty of convenient parking right next to it. Come on out and meet the market managers and make it a morning in Wildwood. First Annual St. Alban Roe K of C Car & Bike Show

St. Alban Roe Knights of Columbus Council #12022 will be hosting a car and bike show in the Wildwood Town Center Plaza (221 Plaza Drive) this Sunday, July 5, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with judging between noon and 3:00 p.m. The show is open to early and late model muscle cars, classics, hot rods, imports, kustoms, trucks, rat rods, and motorcyles. Rain, Rain, Go Away on July 17th and Come Again, Another  Day

June’s concert, with the Fabulous Motown Review, had to be canceled due to rain and storms. The next concert in the City of Wildwood Summer Concert Series is Dr. Zhivegas – a great band, with so much energy and fun - July 17, 2015. The concert will be held in Town Center, at the plaza (221 Plaza Drive), with plenty of free parking, and complementary hot dogs, prepared by St. Louis Home Fires, shaved ice, kettle corn, and soda/water. Wildwood is Almost 20

On August 28, 29, and 30, 2015, Wildwood will celebrate its twentieth anniversary.  This event, Celebrate Wildwood, will have something for everybody, so mark your calendar now and don’t miss it.  This year, the City is proud to announce that, on August 28th, Friday night, the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America’s group – Starlifter will be the headlining entertainment.  At the conclusion, of the band’s performance, fireworks will follow.

Residential Subdivision/Trustee Information on City Website

The City of Wildwood maintains a listing of residential subdivision trustees, websites, and other contact information on its website:

Information is provided on a voluntary basis, but the City would like to have information on as many residential subdivisions as it can, and maintain this page with the current items of interest and need.  Therefore, please urge your subdivision trustees to submit information to the City through the form provided on this page.  By doing so, this webpage can become a great resource to residents throughout Wildwood.


American Flag Disposal

The City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal.  Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist.  All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal.  US Flags should never be placed in the trash.

Criminal Justice Program Offerings at St. Louis Community College – Wildwood Campus

The Criminal Justice Program at St. Louis Community College is pleased to announce that they are offering a full slate of criminal justice courses at the Wildwood campus are planned this fall.  It will now be possible to complete the entire criminal justice degree at the Wildwood campus. 
 
In addition, St. Louis Community College now offers a Credit for Prior Learning program in which prior training, and academy and employment histories can be evaluated in order to award college credit for that work.  It’s a good way to get a head start on a college degree and a good way to complete a degree that was started and never finished.
 
Fall courses offered at the Wildwood campus include:

  • Police Supervision

  • Criminal Investigation

  • American Correctional System

The Shoeman Water Project Shoe Drive Continues at City Hall
