Trash Service Change

Trash pickup for Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2015, will be adjusted. All customers will be delayed by one day for trash/recycle/yard waste collection. If your regular service day is Monday, your pickup will be moved to Tuesday next week. If your regular service day is on Tuesday, your pickup will be moved to Wednesday, and so on.

Employment Opportunity - Deputy City Administrator/City Clerk – FINAL WEEK TO APPLY

The City of Wildwood, Missouri (pop: 35,517) is seeking an experienced Deputy City Administrator/City Clerk.  The ideal candidate will be able to perform complex, highly responsible administrative and managerial duties assisting the City Administrator in directing and coordinating administrative work relating to the full range of municipal management issues, as needed and to help promote the City’s committed efforts for sustainable, long-term economic development in a manner consistent with the City’s Vision Statement. Preferred candidates will possess strong initiative, attention to detail, and an ability to effectively problem solve and work on several projects/programs concurrently and effectively. Must have knowledge of the principles of City government administration, organization, budget, economic development, marketing/communications, legislative processes, and personnel management.
 
Duties include directing the activities of City departments and offices based on general direction and policy of the City Administrator and City Council. Position has a high degree of independence and initiative, latitude in exercise of independent judgment concerning assigned duties. Must be familiar with City Clerk duties and the legal requirements relating to municipal records, policies regarding meetings, and any laws applicable to administration of the city clerk’s office; position requires taking minutes at monthly City Council meetings and other meetings as assigned. Candidate must have strong writing skills in order to produce reports, correspondence, meeting minutes and citizen communications; must use good judgment and maintain confidentiality of personal and private information of citizens and officials.
 
Prefer bachelor degree in Business Administration or equivalent education. Final Concert of the 2015 Season is Just One Week Away - Fatpocket

The City’s fourth, and last, summer concert series is planned for September 11, 2015, at the Town Center Plaza, 221 Plaza Drive. Fat Pocket will be performing from 6:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., with some of the most danceable songs ever recorded. Last year’s performance by Fat Pocket ended early due to rain, so everyone is ready for a great night, highlighting all of its great performances. As always, there will be complimentary hot dogs (800 in total), chips, shaved ice, kettle korn, and soda/water. Before the nights get shorter and the temperatures drop, come on by for one more evening out on the town, Town Center that is. September 2015 Early Childhood Recreation Program – Come Ride the Train – SPACE STILL AVAILABLE

Wednesday, September 23, 2015 - 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.


Registration is now open, and space is still available, for the Wildwood Early Childhood Recreation Program – Come Ride the Train, on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., at the WF&P Railroad, 101 Grand Avenue, in Wildwood, Missouri.  The Wabash, Frisco and Pacific Railroad is a 12 inch gauge, live steam railroad that travels through a beautiful, natural wooded area, with views of the Meramec River along the way. 

Wildwood Early Childhood Recreation Programs are for pre-school age children, 2 through 5 years of age.  There is no cost to participate, but registration is required, and each child must be accompanied by a caregiver.  This event usually fills to capacity.

2015 Farmers Market in Wildwood Every Saturday – Through September!

The City’s 2015 Farmers Market Season, at the Town Center Plaza (221 Plaza Drive), is open every Saturday, now through the Fall. The market begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues through 12:30 p.m. Returning managers of the market, Rene’ and George Sackett, continue to promote a “producers’ only” type of facility, with an emphasis on locally-grown, produced, or made products being offered at it. The intent of this type of market is to create an atmosphere that caters to the desires and needs of its customers here in Wildwood, with the best varieties available, and products you can trust and feel good about eating or using in your home.
 
So, remember, to visit the Wildwood Farmers Market, every Saturday, now through the Fall, with plenty of convenient parking right next to it. Come on out and meet the market managers and make it a morning in Wildwood. 11th Tour de Wildwood – With the Fall Colors

Fall colors, good company, challenging courses, food and fun, and you – what could be better. The event is scheduled for October 4, 2015, starting at Wildwood City Hall, 16860 Main Street. Last year’s tour had over 230 riders and great weather. There will be plenty of food, water, Gatorade, and other treats for entrants and, as always, in Wildwood, plenty of hills. City of Wildwood Mosquito Control Services

The City of Wildwood contracts with the St. Louis County Department of Health for the treatment of areas that are prone to having large populations of mosquitoes.  Wildwood is in the region of the County scheduled for Sunday nights or early (before sunrise) Monday mornings.  Residents can email the County at vector.doh@stlouisco.com and request to have an email notification of when they are spraying by a particular address.  You just need to include your email address and your home address.  With your home address, the County can assign you to an email group and will notify you the afternoon before the spraying is scheduled that evening.  Additionally, you can call St. Louis County’s hotline on Sunday evenings (after 6:00 p.m.) and the recording will let you know the areas they are scheduled to spray that evening.  That number is (314) 615-4BUG or (314) 615-4284.

 
Bethel United Methodist Church 91st Annual Chicken Dinner

Bethel United Methodist Church will host its 91st Annual Chicken Dinner, from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Bethel United Methodist Church (17500 Manchester Road in Wildwood).  Bethel United Methodist Church is located 1.5 miles west of State Route 109, just past Wildwood Middle School.  
 
The Bethel Crafters will also be showcasing their handmade items, open from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 7:00 p.m.  Dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for children (ages 6-10), and free for kids 5 and under.  For more information, please call 636-458-2255 or visit www.bethelunitedmethodist.org.

American Flag Disposal

The City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal.  Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist.  All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal.  US Flags should never be placed in the trash.
