Route 109 Improvement Project Completed

The Route 109 Improvement Project, between Route 100 and Clayton Road, was recently completed with a final cost of just under $5.4 million dollars.  The City and MoDOT would like to thank the residents of Wildwood for their patience as this project was completed.

The City of Wildwood and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) partnered to fund this project to improve the safety and flow of traffic along this section of Route 109.   Route 109 was widened to include four lanes (two in each direction) from Route 100 to Clayton Road.  The project included construction of a raised center median island with landscaping, a modified two-lane roundabout at the intersection of Route 109 and Pond-Grover Loop Road, a roundabout at the intersection of Route 109 and westbound Route 100 ramps, and a western extension of the Pond-Grover Loop Road that will ultimately access the newly constructed 65 acre Wildwood Community Park property located west of Route 109.

Pedestrian Bridge - Route 109
Additionally, one pedestrian bridge over Route 109 just north of Route 100 and one pedestrian tunnel under Route 109 just south of the new Pond-Grover Loop Road roundabout were installed to improve the safety of pedestrians and other users of the Wildwood Greenway trail system.

In June of 2015, the St. Louis Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Missouri Chapter recognized the project as the 2015 Project of the Year Award for projects greater than $250,000.  This award recognizes an individual, team, or organization for excellence in management and administration of public works projects and the alliance between the managing agency, the design professional, and the contractor who, working together as a team, complete public works projects.
