Wildwood Crossing at Manchester Road Intersection Pedestrian Improvements

The City recently had a contractor complete some intersection improvements at the Wildwood Crossing intersection with Manchester Road.  The islands on the north side of the intersection were modified to allow wheelchair access to the pedestrian push buttons on the signal poles.  Sections of the existing raised islands were removed and replaced with new concrete walks at street grade to allow wheelchair access.  Truncated domes were added at the island access points to increase safety for sight-impaired pedestrians using the intersection.  The crosswalk markings were also replaced and a contractor is scheduled to upgrade the existing pedestrian signal heads next week to further improve safety at the intersection.  The new pedestrian heads will have countdown timers so pedestrians will know how much time they have left to complete their crossing.  These improvements will allow more pedestrians to have safe and accessible crossing points at the intersection.
